The way training
At Crossroads our dream is to be a community of people fully committed to following Jesus, actively sharing his love and serving others.
To fully live out our dream we believe it is important for each of us to be confident disciple-makers. That sort of thing doesn’t happen by accident, so this year we are booking in intentional time to equip us to be people who live and breathe making disciples. To equip us in this area we are bringing in Nick & Sarah Field, leaders of the house church movement known as The Way, to train us. Nick & Sarah are passionate about developing church communities that make disciples that then go on to make more disciples. They have put together a fantastic training opportunity to help make that a reality for everyone here at Crossroads. In fact, we believe taking a year to equip ourselves like this could crucially shape the culture and future growth of Crossroads.
There will be four days of amazing training. These will be four Saturdays spread across the year, with each one building upon the prior, so we encourage you to commit to all four. All the information about each week can be found further down the page. Have a read and then we encourage you to register.
Because we see so much value in this training, it is free for everyone to attend and lunch will be provided.
Day 1: The DNA of a Disciple
Saturday 1 April, 9am - 4pm
Disciple-makers are people on mission. They are makers-of-makers-of-disciple-makers, continually drawing others into the journey. In this first section of the training we will dig deep into:
The essential essence of a disciple-maker
The essential commitments of a disciple-making church
The essential tools of a disciple-maker
Day 2: Deep Devotion to Evangelism, Discipleship, the Poor & Needy
Saturday 22 July, 9am - 4pm
During this second section of the training journey, each person learns how to be an everyday missionary, where they live, work, play and learn. Specifically, they discover how to:
Organically and intentionally share the gospel
Disciple others
Serve those in need (in healthy, sustainable ways)
Day 3: Going Low to Serve One Another in Love
Saturday 23 September, 9am - 4pm
In this third section of the training journey, we camp out around the nitty-gritty of loving and serving one another. Some of our favourite pieces of this training are:
The “one anothers” - operating as Jesus’s body
Spiritual gifts - using them to build up the body
Pastoral tools - preparing for healthy interactions in the body
Day 4: Innovative Methods and Rapid Mobilisation
Saturday 18 November, 9am - 4pm
Nothing kills a disciple-making church like the lack of innovation! How we understand “form and function” and “innovative processes” is key to whether we continue to move forward and multiply. A big bonus in this section of the training is the focus on church planting and the development of new disciple-making leaders.
